Food Guide Launch at the 8th City Hawker Food Hunt Awards Presentation and Closing Ceremony
In collaboration with Shin Min Daily News, City Gas unveiled a 200-page bilingual food guide, ‘The Hawker Guide to our 50 Local Favourites’, at the awards presentation and closing ceremony of the City Hawker Food Hunt on 8 November 2015.
Launched by Guest-of-Honour, Mr Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Deputy Prime Minister and Coordinating Minister for Economic and Social Policies, this special SG50 publication showcases Singapore’s top 50 favourite hawker dishes, recommendations to some of the best hawker stalls and recipes from local celebrity chefs.
Written in English and Chinese, the handy food guide aims to monumentalise and celebrate Singapore’s rich hawker heritage which reflects our multi-ethnic history and culture. It also hopes to encourage young readers to embark on an exciting culinary discovery of long forgotten hawker fare and for all to relive nostalgic moments through familiar flavours of our hawker fare. Some of the descriptions and photographs are contributed by the National Heritage Board, who also co-sponsored the publication of the food guide.
More than 40 hawker stalls were also recognised at the event, with two from the “Heritage Hawker Stall” award category.
