City Hawker Food Hunt 2014 Awards Presentation
On 9th November 2014, City Gas marks another successful year of the annual City Hawker Food Hunt event at Blk 84 Marine Parade Central Hawker Centre. Held for the 7th time running, the event brings together people from all walks of life to recognise and celebrate our local hawker legacy. This year City Gas had the honour of inviting Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong to grace the closing ceremony and present more than 40 prizes to the winning stalls in these categories: Roasted Meat Rice, Western Food, Indian Rojak and Double Boiled Soup. Celebrity and food aficionado, Moses Lim, also joined us for the event.
The search for the best hawker stalls in Singapore is a 7-month long event which hawkers and the public look forward to every year. To encourage the younger generation of hawkers to continue whipping up dish after dish of delectable local fare, a new award category “Young Hawker Award” was introduced. Three aspiring young hawkers selling western food, rojak and fishball noodles clinched the prestigious award.
At the closing ceremony, Mr Teo Kwan Hai, Acting President and CEO of City Gas Pte Ltd, said: “It is my greatest pleasure to conclude another rewarding year of souring the island to unearth the best hawker fare prepared by none other than our favourite hawkers. Through our commitment to preserving Singapore’s hawking legacy, City Gas would like to congratulate and thank the winners and participants who have managed to leave a lasting impression on the hearts and stomachs of our fellow Singaporeans.”
In support of the community, a donation of $2000 was presented to Marine Parade Citizens’ Consultative Committee at the closing ceremony.
