City Hawker Food Hunt 2011 Awards Presentation
City Hawker Food Hunt 2011 was brought to a close with our grand finale on 20 November 2011, at Toa Payoh Lorong 7 Blk 22 Hawker Centre. City Gas and Shin Min Daily were honoured to have Mr Zainudin Nordin, MP for Bishan-Toa Payoh GRC, to grace our ceremony.
The 8-month long search for Singapore’s favourite Bak Kut Teh, Wanton Mee, Mee Siam and Fried Carrot Cake crowned 40 top hawker stalls, and also the “Cleanest Hawker Centre”, “Healthier Choice Hawker Centre” and 3 stalls for “Most Authentic Hawker Food”. This year’s “My Favourite Hawker Centre” voting campaign also received overwhelming response from food lovers island-wide!
Over 20,000 votes were received via SMS, online and mail submissions. Congratulations to the three lucky winners who also walked away with cash prizes of up to $500 and a set of the City Gas Clothes Dryer.
In support of community developments, City Gas presented a $2,000 donation to the Toa Payoh Lorong 7 Shopkeepers and Hawkers Association for their charity events. During the launch earlier in April this year, a sum of $2,000 was also donated to the Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund.
