Mr Tan Ek Kia joined the Board of City Gas as our new Chairman on the 29 January 2009.

With a career in the oil and gas and petrochemicals industry spanning 33 years, Mr Tan has held several key appointments in the Shell Group including the positions of Chairman of the Shell Companies of North East Asia (Based in Beijing), and Managing Director of Shell Malaysia Exploration and Production (Based in Sarawak).

In his role as Vice President for Ventures & Developments at Shell Chemicals (Based in Singapore) from 2003 to 2006, he was responsible for steering the optimal performance and stewardship of Shell’s shareholder interest in the existing major petrochemical ventures, and the development of significant projects in the Asia Pacific and Middle East regions. An honours graduate from the Mechanical Engineering Faculty of Nottingham University, England, he currently holds several professional memberships including: Fellow at the Institute of Engineers (Malaysia), Member of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers, UK, and Chartered Engineer, UK.

Mr. Yee Ping Yi joined the Board of City Gas as of 7 August 2012. Mr. Yee is also the Chief Executive Officer and Board member of the Singapore Central Provident Fund Board since January 2011.  The mission of the Central Provident Fund Board is to enable Singaporeans to have a secure retirement.  Over a period of 50 years, it has evolved from a simple old age savings plan into a comprehensive social security system providing for not only retirement, but also housing and healthcare needs of Singaporeans.  

Prior to his appointment in CPFB in January 2011, Mr Yee served in various positions within the Singapore Civil Service, including the position of Deputy Chief Executive of the Singapore Civil Service College.

Mr Yee graduated in 1994 from Cambridge University, UK, with BA(First Class Hons) in electrical engineering. He received an MBA from the MIT Sloan School of Management in 2001.

Mr Tong Yew Heng is the Chief Executive Officer of CitySpring Infrastructure Management Pte Ltd. Mr Tong was with Temasek Holdings for eleven years from 1995 to 2006 where he held various positions, including Director of Investments (Energy and Resources) where he led a team responsible for sourcing, evaluating and making investments in the energy and resources sector. He successfully led several investments in the Energy and Resources sector across Asia, and was instrumental in establishing an energy fund in India, jointly with a leading Indian energy group.

He was responsible for the restructuring of power and gas companies within the Temasek Holdings Group. He was also a member of the Electricity Market Implementation Group charged with the implementation of the new wholesale electricity market in Singapore. Mr Tong’s experience at Temasek Holdings includes the stewardship of companies within the Temasek Group, direct investments, investments in private equity funds, mergers and acquisitions, privatisations, and divestments.

Mr Tong graduated in 1988 with a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) degree from the University of Strathclyde (United Kingdom), and holds a Master of Business Administration from the Nanyang Technological University. He also attended the Program for Executive Development at the International Institute of Management Development, Switzerland in 2000, and is a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Singapore.

Mr Malcolm Eccles was appointed to the CityGas board in October 2011.
Mr Eccles is the CEO and Managing Director of Basslink Pty Ltd & Basslink Telecoms Pty Ltd based in Melbourne, Australia. Basslink Pty Ltd owns and operates the HVDC interconnector which connects the high voltage electricity transmission systems of Tasmania and mainland Australia. Basslink is wholly owned by CitySpring Infrastructure Trust.

Mr Eccles has previously worked in senior management & engineering roles for both Siemens and British Nuclear Fuels Ltd. He is experienced in power station operations, project management, engineering management & nuclear project commissioning and decommissioning/clean-up.
He has global experience having worked in Asia, North America, Europe and Australia.

Mr Eccles is also chairman of the CitySpring group HSSE (health, safety, security & environment) committee. This committee sets and manages HSSE policy and performance for all CitySpring owned businesses.
Mr Eccles is also a non-executive director of Gippsland Water. Gippsland Water look after water and wastewater (sewage) services in Central Gippsland, Victoria. It services an area of just over 5000-square kilometres and a population of more than 130,000 people.

He is a director and executive committee member of the International Cable Protection Committee Ltd (“ICPC”) a worldwide organisation specialising in submarine cable infrastructure. Mr Eccles chairs the revenue and membership committee of the ICPC.

Mr Eccles is a Chartered Electrical Engineer and member of the Institute of Engineering Technology (IET) and a senior member of the Institute of Electrical & Electronic Engineers (IEEE). He is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and a member of the Chartered Management Institute (UK).
He holds a Master of Science degree (MSc) in Electrical Engineering and Management Studies, a Post Graduate Diploma in Project Management, a Post Graduate Diploma in Strategic Management and is also NEBOSH qualified in occupational health and safety. He is also a past attendee of the prestigious ‘Advanced Management Program’ delivered by Henley Management College (UK).

Mr Ng has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer of NetLink Trust on 1 October 2014. He is responsible for the overall leadership and performance of CityNet.
 
Mr Ng brings over 20 years of regional experience in the Asia Pacific region, covering business development, marketing, mergers & acquisitions, business integration, strategic and corporate planning and supply chain management.
 
He has held senior management positions in various industries. Mr Ng was President and Chief Executive Officer of City Gas Pte Ltd, and concurrently, Chief Executive Officer of SingSpring Pte Ltd. Prior to joining City Gas, Mr Ng worked for Esso (Exxon), BASF, Cabot, General Electric and Canada Steamship Lines.
 
Mr Ng holds a Masters of Business Administration with University of Warwick, United Kingdom and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Statistics from the National University of Singapore.
 
Mr Ng is a board member of the Singapore’s National Fire and Civil Emergency Preparedness Council since 2009.

Mr Teo Kwan Hai is currently the Senior Vice President (Regulations, Special Projects & Technical Support Division) at City Gas. He held the General Manager position when City Gas was formed as a divested entity from PowerGas Ltd and was appointed Senior Vice President (Customer Services Division) in August 2004.

Mr Teo has accumulated more than 35 years of experience in the energy sector since beginning his career at Public Utilities Board (Gas Department) and then moved on to PowerGas Ltd when the Electricity and Gas Departments of the Public Utilities Board were corporatised to form Singapore Power.

Mr Teo holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Nottingham and a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Singapore. In 1983, he was registered as a Professional Engineer (Mechanical) with the Professional Engineers Board, Singapore

Mr Tan Kok Soon was appointed Vice President (Production Division) of City Gas in August 2004. He has held various positions within the company including Deputy General Manager (Production Division) for 2 years and prior to that, as Senior Manager (Facilities Branch).

Mr Tan graduated from the National University of Singapore with a Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering and joined Public Utilities Board ( Electricity Department) in 1983. He went on to hold appointments at PowerGas Ltd when the Electricity and Gas Departments of the Public Utilities Board were corporatised to form Singapore Power and continued his career at  City Gas when it was formed as a divested entity from PowerGas Ltd in 2002.

Mr Tan has also been registered as a Professional  Engineer (Electrical) of the Singapore Professional Engineers Board since 1995.

Mr Soh Guan Hong is the Vice President (Residential Sales Division) at City Gas. He joined City Gas in 2006 as Vice President (Sales & Marketing).

Before joining City Gas, Mr Soh has held appointments at Horizon Mobile Communications Pte Ltd, Honeywell Pte Ltd and Apro Technology Pte Ltd.

Mr Soh graduated from LA Trobe University with a Bachelor of Business Administration (Electronic Commerce) and holds an Advanced Diploma in Computer and Communication Systems and a Diploma in Electronic Engineering from Ngee Ann Polytechnic.

Mr Christopher Tan is currently the Vice President (Finance Division) at City Gas, a position he has held since joining the company in April 2010.

Prior to his appointment, Mr Tan served as the Director, Group Reporting and Corporate Finance  at Neptune Orient Lines Limited (NOL). He has more than 15 years of experience in the finance industry since starting his career in audit with Ernst & Young.  Since then, he has held senior appointments at several companies including Mapletree Investments Group.

An Oxford Brookes University graduate with a Bachelor of Arts with Second Upper Class Honours in Accounting and Finance, Mr Tan was also awarded second placing in  the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) Examination. 

Mr Tan is currently a Chartered Accountant in both Institute Chartered Accountant of Singapore and Malaysia Institute of Accountants and has been a fellow member of ACCA since 2006

Mr Abdul Hamid Bin Bakar is the Vice President (HR & Admin) at City Gas, a position he has held since being appointed in July 2012.

Mr Hamid joined Public Utilities Board (Gas Department) in 1993 as an engineer and carried on his career at PowerGas Ltd when the Electricity and Gas Departments of the Public Utilities Board were corporatised to form Singapore Power. In 2001, he was appointed Manager (Maintenance & Support Services Branch) at PowerGas Ltd.

Mr Hamid then took on several positions at City Gas when City Gas was formed as a divested entity from PowerGas Ltd in 2002, rising to the role of Senior Manager (Utilisation Branch) and then heading the Human Resources & Administration Division in 2007.

Mr Hamid graduated from SHRI Academy with a Postgraduate Diploma in Human Capital Management and from the National University of Singapore with a Bachelor of Engineering with Second Class Honours in Mechanical Engineering.

Mr Tan Juay Hwa

Mr Tan Juay Hwa holds the position of Vice President (Commercial & Industrial Sales Division) at City Gas.

Mr Tan began his career at Public Utilities Board (Gas Department) as an engineer in 1993. When the Electricity and Gas Departments of the Public Utilities Board were corporatised to form Singapore Power, he was appointed Engineer (Customer Projects Branch–Domestic Section) at PowerGas Ltd before assuming the Manager position in 2001.

In 2002, Mr Tan carried on his career with City Gas as Manager (Marketing/Business Development Branch) when City Gas was formed as a divested entity from PowerGas Ltd.

Mr Tan graduated from National University of Singapore with a Master of Science in Industrial & Systems Engineering and also holds a Graduate Diploma in Business Administration from the Singapore Institute of Management and a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from Nanyang Technological University. He is a registered Professional Engineer (Mechanical) with  the Singapore Professional Engineers Board since 2007.
